About the position

We are looking for a new music teacher for LM Engström's Gymnasium due to retirement. The position involves teaching various aspects of music, primarily in the aesthetic program with a music focus. We are seeking someone who can teach choir, ensemble, and piano. It is an advantage if you can also teach additional instruments and music production. A broad genre knowledge is also a positive aspect.

The school has a rich musical life, and as a music teacher, you will be a natural part of it. Every week, the entire school gathers in the cathedral for music, singing, and devotion – this is a golden opportunity for music to make an impact at the school. Additionally, there are various concerts and music events both at the school and at other venues in the Gothenburg area. These may take place during both daytime and evening hours.

The position also includes mentorship. The employment rate is approximately 80 percent with the possibility of extension. Your team consists of the school's six music teachers, all of whom have varying part-time positions.

We prefer candidates with previous experience teaching at the upper secondary level. Important qualities include the ability to create good student relationships, collaborate with colleagues, and an interest in developing teaching methods. We would like you to contribute to the development of both the team's work and the school's overall efforts.

We view it positively if you contribute to the school's Christian profile. As a music teacher, there are particularly good opportunities to contribute in this area.

The employment form is a holiday position.

Start date is August 2026.

About the school

LM Engström's Gymnasium is an independent school with a Christian profile in the spiritual tradition of the Church of Sweden, located in central Gothenburg with the vibrant life of the city right at its doorstep. The historic buildings have previously been used by both Gothenburg's oldest gymnasium and the Gothenburg diocese as a residence for the bishop. The cathedral – where the school's students and staff gather every week – is just a minute's walk away. The school has over 600 students enrolled in one of the four programs offered: economics, aesthetics, natural sciences, and social sciences. The aesthetic program with a music focus includes a half-class per year as well as a music profile in the natural sciences program. The school is a popular choice for many students, meaning not all students wishing to attend LM can be offered a place. The staff consists of about 60 people, the majority of whom are teachers. The school's teachers belong to one of five subject-specific teams. Many students and staff take advantage of the excellent public transport options available due to the school's central location. The school is operated by Peter Isaac Béen's educational foundation, a non-profit foundation.
